If you have a small boat you can make various unforgettable trips.
The isle of Kalamos is across the bay from Myticas at 1 km distance, very quiet and picturesque.
It is covered by subtropical vegetation and Homer mentions it in the Odessey as "the full of green Karnos".
The island has beautiful beaches with crystal clear water and the pine forest reaches the beach.
The walk from Episcopi to the town of Kalamos is unforgettable. It takes about 1 ½ hour and the road is smooth.
You can visit a well maintained Bysantine castle in the town Kastro

All along the road you will enjoy the fragrances of the herbs that grow all around: sage, thyme, myrtia, oreal, aregano.

Schedule trips leave for the island daily at 11.30 and 13.30 hours.
During summer (July- August) there is another trip at 18.00 hours. Next to Kalamos is the isle Kastos, smaller and very quiet with beautiful beaches.
By boat you can visit the deserted village Kefali or Porto Leone.
Further is the isle Atokos without inhabitants, savage and unexplored.
More places to visit by the west is Meganisi, Scorpios, Madouri.

Some more adventurous people go as far as Ithaki and some even further to Kefalonia.


The beach of Mytikas extends for 4km and is very enjoyable to walk during sunset.

Another mountainwalk is to Agia Eleousa, a cave centuries age was made a church with wallpaintings on the rock.

From there you have a magnificent view of the valley of Mytikas with thousands of olive groves and Kalamos isle across the bay.
